Viking just announced that it has taken delivery of the Viking Octantis, the first of two new purpose-built expedition cruise ships that will join the fleet in 2022. These additions will allow the line to transport its guests to all seven continents.
November 8, 2021 — If ever you’ve wanted to experience all five of North America’s Great Lakes in a single trip, here’s your chance. Viking Expeditions is launching a new 15-day Great Lakes itinerary for summer 2023 starting in Toronto and sails to Duluth, Minn. — giving passengers the chance to experience each of the five Great Lakes — the cruise company announced recently.
August 30, 2021 — Viking's expedition ships, coming in late 2021 and 2022, will have onboard lab facilities so passengers can be tested for COVID-19, the cruise line's founder and chairman said. The move extends the health and safety practices that Viking instituted on its ocean cruise ships when cruising resumed in May. Viking is the only cruise line to have a full PCR testing labratory onboard.

October 5, 2021 — Originally a river cruise line, Viking has launched six ocean-going vessels since 2015, the most recent being the brand-new Viking Venus, whose maiden voyage took place in 2021. The ships are nearly identical, carrying 930 passengers each, housed in balcony staterooms. Though not all-inclusive, Viking Ocean offers guests one free excursion in each port (the ships primarily sail Northern Europe, though there are some Mediterranean itineraries, too), beer and wine with lunch and dinner, and an unlimited Wi-Fi connection.
September 8, 2021 — Never one to follow the pack, Viking has distinguished itself from other major cruise lines by focusing on “exploring the world in comfort.” Unlike most of its colleagues, it doesn’t allow kids under 18, it doesn’t have casinos and it doesn’t charge extra for Wi-Fi, laundry, specialty restaurants or beer and wine at lunch and dinner. Plus, one shore excursion is included in every port and every cabin comes with a private balcony.

May 20, 2021 — Following the May 19, 2021 signal that Europe will allow fully-vaccinated travelers to enter EU countries without the need to quarantine, Viking Cruises is relaunching five European river cruises beginning in July.
